Sorry! Took a long break from posting… I go through phases where I NEED to try different things… My wife calls me a “Hobbyist” which means that I just can’t pick one hobby… But, over the last three years, the one “hobby” that I’ve settled on is art. It solves my Hobbyist needs… Instead of switching hobbies for a couple of months, I can switch mediums!! Anyway, I have been working in Oil Pastels over the last couple weeks… and they’re SUPER DUPER fun!! Anyone who likes art should try them… They’re like big adult versions of Crayons with a mix of finger painting… They’re messy and sticky and just down right beautiful.
Here are a couple of pieces I’ve done just playing around. I think I’m going to mix these into my rotation of mediums that I switch to for a short amount of time. I know, they aren’t my best work… but it’s the first time I’ve used the medium, and it’s NOT and easy medium to use! There aren’t any sharp edges or “points” to use to make fine lines… you have to improvise. I absolutely believe though that if you can master this medium, you can master ANY medium! Enjoy!
And
Bri,
I like how the “clouds” in the sky over the buildings kind of look like continents floating in an ocean. Almost like there is another planet in the sky so close you can’t see it’s shape. I kept coming back to this picture because there was something really interesting to me there, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was until now.
Very cool!
Love you – M
Wow, I love this painting! You should do a lot more of these…I started messing around with Oil Pastels last year but quit, frustrated. I’m going to have to try them again.
Hello, I want to say hi everyone.
